On the Hunt

You might remember us talking about Tracey & Steve of End of the Thread Antique Emporium ….well, a night at their place, a little wine and lots of ideas (…or visa versa) and they suggested we join them for a trip down to south this spring.  That’s all it took.  We were like fish on a hook.  A few weeks passed.  We looked into renting a trailer.  No, a van.  No, a cube van yeah!!  And next thing you know we were packing up and hitting the road. Well, we couldn’t have asked for a better first cross-border road trip experience (except for the frigid temperatures!!)  Steve and Tracey were amazing travel companions and in just 4 days we had walked through miles of (extremely eclectic) vendors, filled our van and were heading for home…tired, dirty, and excited about our loot.

.

Here’s a few photos to give you a taste of the pickin’ scene.

{ Strangely, as we look through the pics post-trip, there is not one single photo of Steve and Tracey  (!?)  This is either because they were working too damn hard the whole time, or – they are vampires.  We’re looking into it. }

SO …here’s our “ride”

truckGetting used to the new “super-size” vehicle.

.

Couldn’t really get a shot of our first impressions, we rolled in way after dark and it was like driving through a sleeping circus camp.  A silent jumble of tent peaks in the moonlight.

.

carcampingWe may have taken car-camping to a whole new level.

.

morningMorning.  Early, and cold.  But pretty.

.

And, here’s a taste of the market scene.  Excuse us, it seems we have a tendency to take shots some of the more “creative” offerings.

The cube van was definitely the right choice.  We managed to fill it with amazing finds and now we are back home slowly moving everything into the shop.  Keep your eye on our facebook page for pics and news as things evolve.

Hope to see you soon!

  4. Oh man. This spot is on my list of things to do for sure.
    One question – how is it that one can maintain any kind of restraint when forced with so many choices of great things???
